CIO.com – IT Is Increasing Efficiency but Failing to Drive Business Growth

I came across this article as I was cleaning out my Instapaper list this weekend.  The article from CIO.com highlights recent research that shows IT is very successful at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their business, but missing opportunities to act as a strategic partner with executives.  My favorite question the article poses is related to the annual planning cycle.  Does your organization’s IT function have to stand up and defend its new projects or are business leaders jumping up to defend how those IT projects will benefit their operations?
