Continuing on the cyber security theme this week, I came across an article in Gizmodo discussing how power regulators recently lobbied a significant fine against an unidentified power company after more than 30 thousand company records were discovered unprotected online. Obviously this is was a significant security lapse from the organization in question, but I think the story highlights that regulators are increasingly taking information security seriously and therefore so should organizations. IT and Business professionals must keep the security of the information they handle in mind and be educated on how to appropriately handle and protect that information.
