I’m sure its no surprise that I have been a fan of Calvin and Hobbes comic strip since I was a kid. I think I’ve read almost every strip that has been publish (and some excellent re-enactments of popular strips, these even feature Daveed Diggs of Hamilton fame) and I have my favorite strip framed in my office. (I’ve also been proud of my seven year old son who I’ve seen flipping through my copy of The Complete Calvin and Hobbes when he thinks I’m not looking.)
But few people know the story about how the creator of Calvin and Hobbes, Bill Watterson, got to be an animator. That’s why I loved this cartoon from Zen Pencils that shared Bill’s story of following his passion and living his own life. Hit the link below to see the full comic and be sure to read the article below it to get the back story on Bill Watterson and the creation of the comic.
