I came across this photo from @BenedictEvans on Twitter.  What you’re seeing is the Pixar render farm (used to create each frame of the original Toy Story) circa 1995.  Amazingly, a two year old iPhone now has more computing power than what you see in this picture.  I can only imagine how today’s Apple announcement will improve on that metric.  (On a related note, we should now start rating all phones’ computing power in ‘Toy Story’ units, i.e. the iPhone 6 is a 1-Toy-Story phone.)
