We’ve been told for years that the best passwords have a mix of upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.  But what really makes a more secure password?  This article from the MIT Technology Review cites research that suggests our views on what makes a strong password may be wrong (or at least misleading).   The research suggests that longer passwords that incorporate symbols are better than shorter passwords that rely on uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers.  Now if everyone would just read and react to this research, I’ll finally be able to use longer, more complex passwords on websites that still limit me to 10 characters…

What do you think?  How do you construct more secure passwords?
