Planes Don’t Carry Tanks Of Oxygen. So What’s In Your Emergency Mask?
As a consultant, I have the “pleasure” of flying on a fairly regular basis (including two flights earlier today). This article from io9 made me think this morning about how amazing our ability to board a plane and fly across the country really is. I had always assumed that the oxygen I would breathe from those little, yellow butter containers that drop from the ceiling came from a tank stored somewhere else on board. (Spoiler alert: it actually comes from “oxygen candles” which, when burned, cause a chemical reaction that creates oxygen.)
What random fact about flying have you learned?
